The real reason every business needs a 90-Day Plan

26 Nov 2025

Our strategic reset - and why your next 90 days matter more than ever

Have you ever looked around your business and wondered, How did we get here? What should we do next?

Our team had hit a crossroad. We realised that the way we were working no longer matched the business we’d become. Bottlenecks were everywhere: roles were unclear, client requests came in every shape and size, and knowledge was trapped in people’s heads. It was a classic “when did this happen?” moment. It was our wake-up call that forced us to stop, reflect, and reset.

Maybe you’ve felt the same. Have you felt that what once worked for your business or team just isn’t enough anymore, doesn’t feel like it is working and knowing something has to change.

For me, that reset changed everything. Instead of pushing harder, we stepped back and built a new foundation. We started with a clear, focused 90-day plan. We clarified roles, standardised how clients made requests, captured context so anyone could help, and fixed our billing flow. Most importantly, we stopped thinking in vague annual goals and started working in 90-day sprints, each with three specific actions, clear owners, and weekly measures.

My focus changed from managing bottlenecks to creating capacity and opportunities.

The results? Our capacity doubled. Turnaround times improved. We had fewer open jobs and started working with clients who were a better fit. But as transactional demand kept rising, we saw just how vital it was to keep planning in 90-day cycles—because that’s what allowed us to adapt, prioritise, and keep moving forward.

Here’s why I believe every business needs a 90-day plan—especially now:

  • It brings clarity: When you know your top three priorities for the next quarter, your team can focus on what truly matters.
  • It creates real accountability: Assigning owners and deadlines means nothing gets lost, and progress is visible.
  • It keeps you agile: Regular reviews let you spot issues early and adapt before small problems become big ones.
  • It delivers results: Consistent, focused action over 90 days achieves more than a year of scattered effort.

If you’re still relying on a long, dusty business plan—or just reacting to whatever comes next—now’s the time to change. I’ve put together a free, one-page plan template that captures everything you need: your capacity model, your three key actions, and your weekly lead measures. It’s the same tool we use, and it works.
